Burst_Swords to the Skies Read online

  "Ummm, ok... I'll go with you. We'll get you something else to wear"

  "Something else? Why?"

  "You'll attract a lot of attention. You're wearing knight's clothing...

  "Ok, then. What should we get?"

  "A jacket, I think"

  "Ok, let's go"

  "I'll get changed!"

  She went to the closet and took a winter jacket. I was confused, I asked "Why would you need that?", "Its cold outside" she replied as she was putting on the jacket.

  I opened the door. The cold wind entered the house. "I'm ready, let's go" said Spica. We headed out of the house.

  Sylus 2: Discovery

  "Where are we going?" I asked, "To town, we'll get something for you there" said Spica.

  "Thank you"

  "Huh?" she was confused. "Thank you for helping me" I clarified. "Oh, yea..." she replied

  We eventually arrived in town. "Let's go to that shop over there" said Spica, "Ok, lead the way" I replied. We walked into the shop.

  Inside, she immediately went to the jacket section. I just followed her there. She saw a black winter jacket. It had a furry collar. It also had a sword belt, the buckle was a logo. The logo seemed to be silver ace of spade.

  "Try this" said Spica handing me the jacket."Ok" I replied. I went to try it on in the changing room.

  After changing, I showed it to Spica. "Wow, that looks cool on you" commented Spica.

  We decided to get the jacket along with the sword belt. I had to wear two belts because I had two swords. "Do you have money?" Spica asked as we approached the counter, I showed her the money I had from Cielo. "Ummm, what currency is that? Never mind, this is my treat! You don't have to repay me. We'll go on some quests to earn some for you" said Spica, "That's so nice of you. Thanks" I thanked. "No problem..." she replied, she seemed to be blushing for no reason. We exited the shop.

  The world was far different from Cielo. The sky was dark, the world was dark, there wasn't much light. The forest near the Spica's home had a blue tone, there were small twinkling blue lights in the forest too.

  "There will be a sacrifice for Sylus at last!"

  "Hoorah!!!"

  "Sacrifice?" I asked, "Let's check it out" said Spica. We head to the notice board. We saw a poster there. It read:

  "Princess will be sacrificed!

  Sylus will be revived!

  Date: 26 Xenos 2357

  Venue: Sylus's Castle"

  "Princess?!" I was shocked, "It seems like Arsceil got a sacrifice from another world. We have to prevent this! I won't let Sylus get revived!" said Spica. "And I won't let them use Sora as a sacrifice. Wait, did you say Arsceil?" I asked, "He is the leader of the cult. So, the princess is your Sora?" asked Spica. "Yup" I replied. "We gotta stop him, we only have 2 weeks left!" said Spica.

  "Sora... I'm coming for you! I promised that I'll protect you, I'm sorry. I promise to save you now!" I thought.

  Sylus 3: Quest

  "We'll take it"

  "Thank you!" said the receptionist

  We accepted a quest. The was entitled 'Wolf Gang', the goal was to eliminate the pack of Dark Wolves that were attacking the villages at night.

  "We'll head there tonight"

  "Ok, how much was the bounty again?"

  "25, 000 Slybs. All of them are yours to keep"

  "Really? I think I should share some with you"

  "No need. I have enough money from raiding"

  "Oh, ok. You know... You're generous"

  "Don't mention it...!" she said almost whispering. Her face turned red, she couldn't handle compliments well. She gets really happy if she gets complimented.

  We waited until nighttime.

  "I think its time to go" I said.

  "Ok, let me get ready"

  She went her closet to grab her winter jacket and her sword. She put her jacket on while saying "Let's go", she put her sword into her scabbard on her belt.

  The freezing wind entered the house as I opened the door. The wind was strong, I felt like I was getting blown away.

  "Brrr..." Spica was cold.

  "Cold? I think you should wear more clothing"

  "No need, I'm used to it... Brrr"

  It was a cold night, the world was as dark as usual. The blue lights in the forest made it look and feel magical. It would take a while to walk there.

  We eventually reached the village. The villagers seem to be asleep.

  "Psst, Spica. The wolves are over there. I think they might come here anytime soon. Let's get to them before they do"

  "Yea, good idea. Let's sneak up on them"

  The wolves were black and grey in color. They had bright red glowing eyes. A dark aura seemed to be emitting from them.

  We sneaked behind the houses, we tried not to frighten the villagers so we were quiet. I checked to see the pack's location.

  "They seem to be ready to attack. Weapons ready"

  We drew out our swords, we were waiting for them to make a move. We were quiet, we also didn't want the wolves to hear us.

  "Baark!!!*"

  The wolves were on the move.

  "Go, go, go!"

  We moved from hiding and revealed ourselves. They noticed us and decided to deal with us first.

  I attacked them with my Sword of Demise. They got really damaged from just one hit. The first one died in a few hits.

  Another wolf jumped at me, I jumped backwards to avoid it's attack. I tried hitting it with my Royal Rapier but it didn't get damaged much. I had to hit it with the Sword of Demise to kill it.

  "The Royal Rapier doesn't deal as much damage here... I think I should just use One-Handed skills" I thought.

  I put the Royal Rapier back in its scabbard and switched the Demise to my right hand. 4 or so wolves jumped to attack me.

  "Cel!"

  I did the "Rapid Fire" skill at them.

  "Awoo"

  "Awoo..."

  "Awoo!"

  "Ooo"

  They died in a flash.

  "Woah!"

  Spica was amazed. She didn't notice that a wolf jumped to attack her.

  "Spica!"

  I did "Dark Disc" to shoot it from afar.

  "Awoo..."

  "Huh?"

  "Don't space out!"

  "Uh... Yea!.... Arghh!!!"

  She continued attacking them. And after a while, we defeated all of them.

  We returned to the receptionist to claim the bounty for the quest.

  "Here's your 25, 000 Slybs!"

  "Thank you! Here!"

  She gave me the bounty.

  "Uh... Thanks"

  We sat down at a local bar and ordered some drinks.

  "Some Whiskey for me"

  "Thank you, Ma'am"

  The waiter left. Spica turned to me.

  "So, you have the Sword of Demise..."

  "Yea, I took it from Arsceil during a battle"

  "Its one of the most powerful swords in the world! Well, this world... That 'Rapid Fire' was amazing too! And, you can dual wield?"

  "Yea, I usually use it"

  "Why did you stop using it just now?"

  "My Royal Rapier couldn't deal much damage. It doesn't work on dark monsters for some reason..."

  "Oh, really? It must be an unpowered up light blade. We really should power it up before defeating Arsceil... I'll show you how tomorrow"

  "Hmm, ok. What do we need?"

  "We need to acquire the three Syress's of Light to power it up to its maximum potential"

  "How do we get that?"

  "We'll discuss it tomorrow!"

  "K, uh... Where do I sleep?"

  "In that be-... Oh... That's my bed..."

  "Its fine. I'll sleep on the floo-"

  "You crazy?! You'll freeze to death!!! Sleep... with me... In the same... Bed..."

  "Ok, if you're ok with it..."

  "Yea... I... Am..."

  Her face turned bright red. She couldn't stand the fact about sleeping with a male in her bed. It m
ust be embarrassing.

  "Here's your drink, ma'am"

  "K! Thank you!"

  "Hahaha"

  "Stop laughing!"

  "You're cute when you blush"

  "Don't make it worse!!!"

  "Hahaha!"

  At home, we got in bed. "Good night, Spica" I wished, "Good night!" she wished quickly at a high pitched voice. "Haha" I laughed at the thought, "Don't laugh at me!" she said in embarrassment.

  It was a peaceful and cold night. There were cricket sounds in the background. She was right about not sleeping on the floor. I thought that I should thank her.

  Sylus 4: Memories

  "Wakey wakey"

  The familiar voice, waking me up.

  "Dinner's ready!"

  That voice, inviting me to dinner.

  "I won't leave you"

  That voice, making me feel secure.

  I saw a black shadow of a hand coming in to grab her.

  "Sora!!!"

  "Cel!!!"

  "Sora!!!"

  "Cel!!! Help me!!!"

  "Ahhh!"

  "Ah!"

  "It looks like you had a nightmare"

  It was a dream, that ended up being a nightmare. I was happy to hear Sora's voice again. I saw Spica tying her hair.

  "... Why...?"

  "Woah... What's with you?"

  I started crying. I was sad, I felt lonely. I was in a world that I didn't recognize.

  "Sora... Where are you...? I miss your cooking, your voice, your smile... Everything!!!" I thought.

  "That nightmare must be scary. It left you crying!"

  "It was scary... Really scary... But mostly sad... *Sniff... Let's find those Sryress's"

  "Oh, ok. Yea, but we need to eat first... I'm not much of a cook, sorry"

  "Its ok"

  "Hearing that makes me miss Sora's cooking even more. Gotta get over it. I'll save you, Sora!" I thought.

  We headed to town, we went to a restaurant to eat something.

  "Thank you"

  My breakfast was served, I ordered some mashed potato. I just wanted to feel like Sora was around.

  I tasted the potato, it was delicious but it didn't feel anything like Sora's cooking. It was like the... 'Love?' was missing. It just tasted like plain ol' mashed potato to me.

  "So, do you know where the Syress's are" I asked.

  "Not exactly. I think its safer to search for some information about them. We should be able to go to the library or something"

  "K, so shall we go to the library soon?"

  "Yea, after breakfast"

  "K..."

  "I am still depressed about not being able to protect Sora from danger. I wish to go back to those day in our temporary home in the village far away from the castle or any other serious threat. Just the two of us, together in our home. Talking, laughing, smiling, sleeping... Everything. I cherish every moment I had with her. We had the perfect life together, well not perfect but it was better than what its like now. No! Stop! Don't think about depressing thing now! I have a task at hand! That task is to save Sora!" I thought.

  "Umm, Cel. Aren't you eating? Are you still sad? It must have been something sensitive to you"

  "Thanks for your sympathy"

  "Don't worry. I'm here with you!"

  "Thanks"

  Sylus 5: Library

  Spica and I just finished our breakfast. We paid for the meals and left the restaurant.

  "So, we're heading to the library, right?"

  "Yup! This way!"

  I followed a cheerful Spica to the library. She might just be cheering me up. Well, that what I thought.

  As we were walking to the library, we came across a dark alley.

  "Stop! Have mercy! Oof!"

  I saw a man getting beaten up by 2 soldiers. I wondered "Why do some Sylus cultists beat each other up?". I decided to take action.

  "I'll get this over with"

  "But Cel! We will be seen as an anti-Sylus!"

  "Don't worry, it'll be quick"

  I went off to save that guy in the alley.

  "Wait!"

  She didn't want to be seen as an anti-Sylus because she was scared of getting caught.

  "Hey, stop beating that guy up!"

  They drew out their weapons. I drew out Demise. "Are you ready?" I asked.

  They charge at me. I raised my sword and did "Rapid Fire" at them. They got hit multiple times. They were heavily damaged. I ended it with "Heat Blast".

  "Cel! That was careless! You could've gotten caught!"

  "Sorry, I couldn't bare to not help a man who could possibly die if I didn't"

  We turned to the man. He was injured, mostly in the stomach. "What happened?" I asked.

  "I wanted to leave the Sylus cult but they won't let me. Arghh... They gave me a beating because of that. Arghh... It hurts" he replied.

  "Let's bring to the hospital"

  "What?!"

  "Show me the way"

  "K! Follow me"

  Spica lead me to the hospital. We dropped the guy off there. "Thank you for sending me here" said the beaten up guy, "No problem" I replied.

  "Let's go to the library"

  "K... Why do you have to do these things..."

  "That's just who I am"

  "And you're special in your way" I added.

  "Yea... Ok..." she hid her blushed face from me.

  In the library, we searched for books about the three Syress's. We searched in the swords category.

  "Syress... Syress... Oh, Three Syress's, Light Blade's Quest" I said as I searched for the book.

  "Spica, come here"

  Spica came to me. "What is it?" she asked.

  "What about this?"

  "Try reading it"

  "Phew... Luckily, it was in a language that I can read" I thought.

  I opened to page 37 and read this:

  "The three Syress's of Light are hidden in the three Syress ponds. Those ponds are located in the Friesta Forest, Afriasta Waterfalls and Zuriesta Sands"

  "Friesta Forest is forest next to my home!" said Spica.

  "That makes it a bit easier for me"

  "Afriasta is a bit further away than the village we killed those Dark Wolves, Zuriesta is very far..."

  "We'll go to Friesta tomorrow"

  "Yea, its the closest"

  "Let's go after lunch" Spica added.

  "K, it depends on you"

  "Let's go home. Oh, wait. Let's get something to eat. Its lunch now!"

  "Ok, lead the way"

  We went to grab some food and went back home. I was looking forward to the next day.

  Sylus 6: Friesta

  I was asleep. I was starting to gain consciousness.

  "Thump!*"

  I heard thumping sound. I opened my eyes and looked around, Spica wasn't in bed.

  Suddenly, a hand emerged from the edge of the bed. Spicas's head emerged.

  "What... Happened...?"

  She was confused. I thought that she must've fell off the bed. "Ha ha ha..." I laughed a little at the thought of her falling off the bed.

  "What's so funny?"

  "Nothing... Did you... Fall off the bed?"

  "I don't know!"

  She stood up and took a towel and said "Imma take a bath", "Ok" I replied.

  I took the bath after she finished taking hers. After taking a bath and getting dressed, we decided to go and eat breakfast. We ate breakfast at the restaurant we went to yesterday.
