Burst_Swords to the Skies Read online

  "Cel Alt. Please enter the throne room" said the guard. I entered the room. The room has a giant stained glass window, the colorful light was shining in beautifully. The chandelier made the room look golden.

  I kneeled in front of the princess. "By the power vested in me, I dub thee Royal Sky Knight of Cielo" she said. It was a dream come true. "Stand up. Strong knight" she said.

  "Cell Alt. This is your uniform from now on. I chose it to be black" she said showing me my new uniform. It was a black jacket, there was a white shirt outlined in gold. A protective vest was also inside of it.

  "Here is your new sword, the Royal Rapier" she said presenting my sword. It was pearly white, it has a red and gold handle. It just looks royal to me.

  I got changed into it. I felt so happy, my dream has finally came true. "Cel!" called the princess, "Yes, your highness" I replied. "Call me Sora by the way. Anyway, you are my personal knight. Take care of me!" she said in a cheerful voice. "I will you- I mean... Sora" I replied. "Ok! Let's go!" she said asking me to follow her. "Coming!" I replied.

  Chapter 4: Darkness

  I followed her to see her father, his Majesty the king. He was walking in the castle garden. "Hey, dad!" called Sora, "Hey, Princess" he answered. "Greetings, your Majesty" I greeted. "You've done well, little one" the king commented, "Thank you, your Majesty" I thanked.

  "Hello, your Majesty..." said an evil sounding voice. I drew out my sword, I was expecting the worst. A man in dark clothes appeared from the smoke. He had a black rapier with him. "Bye bye" he said. He raised his hand and casted a spell on the king, the king turned to stone. I was blasted away by the spell, I didn't get to protect the king. "Father!" shouted Sora, "I'll do something" I said.

  I got up and went to face him. "Hmm? Wanna duel? Ok" he said while drawing his black sword. "Taste the wrath of Demise!" he shouted charging towards me.

  I did "Slice" to fend off his attack. I flew up to do "Downward Thrust" but he followed me up and hit me with a "Flying Spin" attack. I decided to do the "Jet Blast", I charged at quite a fast speed at him.

  "Clang!"

  His sword got hit away. He was unarmed. "Hmph... Not bad, knight" he commented.

  He flew down to get his sword. I charged at him. I hit him out of the way.

  "Waa-"

  He landed on the ground a bit further away from his sword. I landed and took his sword.

  "Hmm... Ok, then. You may have that sword" he said.

  "I have a white and a black sword now, eh" I thought.

  I thought that I could make dual wielding abilities.

  He stood up. "No sword, no problem" he said. He raised his hand, it had dark smoke and purple-ish light coming out of it.

  "I'll be waiting for you... Be gone!" he shouted.

  A blast of smoke came at us. We couldn't see a thing. The next thing we know...

  We're far from the castle. We were teleported to the Vast Fields.

  Sora was lying on the ground next to me. "Sora!" I called out. She opened her eyes. "Father..." she moaned, "We got to save him..." she added.

  "Don't worry. We'll save him, together" I assured. She looked at me and smiled.

  Chapter 5: Start

  Sora and I have been collecting items and visiting towns throughout the week, we searched for information too.

  We sometimes get free stuff because of Sora, she is the princess anyway. The people were happy to help.

  The castle is covered my a smokey barrier. I have been thinking on how to bring it down. The castle's under that guy's control.

  "Umm, Cel. I think I should say this to you" said Sora.

  "What is it?"

  "The guy who attacked us... Was the royal wizard"

  "What?! Why did he attack us, teleported everyone away and put a barrier on the castle? He even froze the king!" I asked.

  "I don't know. I think its because he was tired of hearing father's orders or wanted revenge. It might also be a plan made by his ancestors"

  "Maybe. No one knows"

  We arrived at Vyloge Village at noon, we were warmly greeted by the villagers.

  "Thank god! The princess is safe! Such a good knight!" shouted someone in the crowd.

  The villager leader came out.

  "Welcome, Your Highness and Knight Cel. Im Phoss, leader of the village. We've heard that the castle was attacked. Thank god that you're safe. You may stay here for as long as you want" greeted Phoss.

  "Thank you for welcoming us. We're planning on taking the kingdom back. Cel Alt and I will attack the castle. I would like to know a way to break barrier on the castle" said Sora.

  "Oh, you may ask Fonzo. He can communicate with the spirits, the spirits should tell how" said Phoss.

  "We will. Thank you, Phoss" thanked Sora.

  "Its a pleasure, your highness"

  We searched for Fonzo's house in the village, the villagers gave us directions. We eventually arrived at his home.

  We knocked on the door. "Hello? Is Fonzo home?" I called. "Yes! Come in" he replied. We entered.

  In the home was a man who was probably in his 70s, it was Fonzo. "What do you want?" he asked. "We wanted to know the way break the barrier on the castle" said Sora.

  He closed his eyes. I felt some sort of energy around us. He opened his his eyes and said:

  "Castle barrier of evil sin,

  By an evil from within.

  Three bosses you shall defeat,

  Will be key to its defeat.

  Fire, Ice and Sky,

  Is where they lie."

  "Huh?" said Sora.

  "We need to kill three bosses in order to break the barrier. They lie in Fire, Ice and Sky Provinces. I think they are in the temples." I said.

  "Exactly" replied Phoss.

  "NOW GET OUT!!! I WANNA SLEEP!!!" he added.

  "Yes, sir!"

  Chapter 6: Fire

  "The Fire Temple is located on Valvery Mountain. It is reported that the mountain is very hot now. There are pools of lava everywhere" I said.

  "Are you well equipped?" I asked, "Yea" she replied. She drawn out her sword, Royal Grace. Its the most divine sword in looks. The handle is gold with some red jewels on it. The blade is pure white.

  The sword is able to create light beams. Many forms of beams can be made depending the way you swing. You could use it to shoot a lot beams in rapid succession.

  We were off to the mountain. Not even half way up, I could feel the hot air. I could already imagine how hot it will be to land on top.

  We eventually landed on top. "Damn, its so hot. It like I'm getting fried alive!" I commented. "I know right" she replied.

  The temple was in sight. I felt the heat rising as we approached the temple. There was a blast of hot wind blowing at us as we got closer.

  I heard a faint laugh inside, I was expecting a battle. I drew out my sword. Sora followed. We entered the temple together.

  There was a set of stairs leading down to the main chamber. "Follow me" I said going down the stairs.

  The walls and stairs looked old and cracked. They looked red from the fire and lava. I was cautious because the stairs didn't look so safe.

  In the chamber, we saw a man in black metal armor and fiery hair. He was looking towards the altar at the back.

  He laughed in a deep eerie voice. He stopped, turned to us and said "Looks like I have guests... You're not welcome. But you as well stay for a beating. I'm Vega, fire knight of the Sylus cult. Die under my wrath!"

  I couldn't fly high in the chamber. The roof was 5 meters tall from the floor. I could only fly so much.

  He blasted a ring of fire at us. Sora blasted a ring of light to counter it. The rings met and neutralized. I came in for some attacks. He blocked them with his own sword. I back flipped and did a jumping spin attack. It only pushed him a bit.

  Sora came in for an attack, Vega pushed me away and did a wide swing. Sora avoided the attack and jumped. She released an army of light beams and dived in. The beams hit Vega at many parts o
f his body. He blocked Sora's sword attack.

  I came in with "Lightning Speed" and hit him at his stomach area. He got knocked back quite far. He hit the wall.

  We dived in together, she used her light beams while I used my dual wielding ability "Twin Blades". "Ahhh" screamed Vega as we dived in.

  He was defeated. He said "Haha, not bad for humans. But you won't defeat the Sylus cult!". He disappeared in a blast of smoke.

  The heat of Valvery Mountain turned back to normal. The inhabitants should slowly come back to the mountain.

  "Well, I think its time for some rest" said Sora, "Yea, we done quite a lot today" I replied. We flew back to our temporary home in the village.

  Chapter 7: Home

  We arrived back at our temporary home in the village. I was exhausted and hungry.

  I immediately sat on the couch. "Sweet dreams!" wished Sora. "Thanks. I'm so exhausted and a bit hungry" I replied. I fell asleep not long afterwards.

  "Wakey wakey!" said a voice when I was mostly asleep. I felt patting on my shoulder. I opened my eyes, I saw Sora. "Dinner's ready!" she said cheerfully. I was a bit confused. I sat up and saw food already served the table.

  I looked outside and saw that it was almost nighttime. "Come on, let's eat!" said Sora inviting me to dinner. "O-oh..." I said still confused.

  I sat at the dinner table. "Y-you didn't have to cook for me!" I said, "Aww, c'mon. You worked hard today" said Sora, "You did too. But I didn't do anything for you..." I replied, "You don't have to, this is just my treat. Dig in!" she replied. "Oh... Thanks for the meal!" I said. "You're welcome!" she replied.

  I took a scoop of the mashed potato mixed with some gravy and put it in my mouth.

  It was perfect! The amount of salt, the texture, everything! "Wow!" I said after swallowing the food. "Like it? <3" asked Sora, "Yes! I love it!" I answered. "I'm so blessed to have tasted food from an amazing cook in my life!" I added, "Happy to hear that!" said Sora.

  After enjoying the out of this world meal by Sora, we decided that it was time for bed. But the house only had one bed...

  "You sleep on the bed, I'll sleep in the living room" I suggested, "If you're sleeping in the living room, I am too!" she said, "But-" I didn't get to finished my speech, "No buts!" she assured.

  I had no other choice. If I wanted her to be comfortable, I had to sleep with her in the same bed.

  The bed wasn't that wide. I was sleeping on the edge while Sora was sleeping on the side that was next to the wall. I was trying to distance myself from her but I felt like I was able to fall anytime.

  "Come closer, you'll fall if you don't" said Sora. She pulled me closer to her. "So close! So close!" I thought. My body was touching hers. I thought that I won't get any sleep that night. But I eventually did.

  Chapter 8: Snowheart

  The next morning, I woke up alone in bed. I was wondering where Sora would be.

  Sora then walked to the door and said "Oh, you're awake. Good morning! Breakfast's ready!", "Good morning. You didn't have to trouble yourself to cook though" I said. "That again... Who else would? And I love cooking! Don't ask that again, ok?" she replied, "Oh, ok" I said.

  "She's special. Her cooking's amazing, her sword skills are great... She's just amazing" I thought. After breakfast, we headed off to Snowheart Province.

  The air was freezing cold. We wore extra clothes to keep ourselves warm. We couldn't fly because it was so cold that it would freeze our wings.

  "Brr"

  "Are you ok?" I asked. "Yea... Brr, just cold..." Sora replied. "Do you need extra clothes?" I asked, "No, I don't!" she replied.

  Suddenly, a white wolf tried to jump on her. I heard the sound and immediately protected her. "We're surrounded!" I said as I saw a pack of white wolves surrounding us. "Come here" I said pulling Sora next to me.

  I drew my swords and did "Heat Wave", it knocked them away. I then did "Light Blast" to finish them.

  "Thank you..." said Sora, "No problem" I said. I looked at Sora in the eye and said "I'll protect you, I promise". "But-" she didn't finish, "No buts, its what I can do for you" I said.

  We eventually arrived at the Ice temple, I felt the evil presence inside of the building. It was especially cold just being near to it too. There was a mansion near the temple.

  "Look, that mansion over there. Its called the 'Liesbeith Mansion', it used to be a mansion owned by King Liesbeth and his army. There is also a giant courtyard there. I feel like there is something suspicious about that mansion" I said. "Hmm, that mansion has been abandoned for a long time. I guess it might be haunted" she replied.

  It gave a chilling feeling. The mansion had an evil presence, it also felt a bit spooky. I decided to put it at the back of my mind and continue on the task at hand.

  "Let's go" I said walking towards the temple, "Oh, ok. Brr..." she said following me. She hates the cold, it seems. She wasn't able to fight well and her muscles were of bit frozen to move. I thought that I had to protect her.

  Chapter 9: Haunting

  Sora and I set foot inside of the Ice Temple. The walls were made of ice. It was extremely freezing inside.

  We stepped to the middle of the room. Suddenly...

  "Heeheehee"

  A tornado appeared and sucked us into it. I heard the laugh of a lady as it emerged. I held on to Sora's hand and said "We'll be alright!", she replied with an "Mmm" and a nod.

  I closed my eyes as we swirled around in the room. "Heeaheeaheea" laughed the voice of the lady. The laugh was getting louder and louder and then...

  I felt land beneath my feet. Sora was still holding on to me. I opened my eyes and...

  We were inside the mansion. I knew it was the mansion because the interior looked like how I saw it through the windows of the mansion.

  "Are we safe?" asked Sora, "Yes, you can open your eyes now" I replied. "Where are we?" she asked, "Inside the mansion, I think" I replied.

  We went to the door, I slowly opened it. The door was unexpectedly dark. Suddenly...

  "Ahhh!"

  A black shadow ran past us in a blink of an eye. Sora screamed a bit too. The shadow had bright red eyes, I saw it as I was opening the door.

  Outside the door was a garden, we saw what it seems to be 3 ghosts gathering around a lit torch. The ghosts were like the shadow that just past. They raised their hands and the fire disappeared. The door behind the torch also closed. The ghosts left, the ghosts have flame coming from their eyes now.

  "Let's go" I said as Sora and I ran to another room. The room was a bedroom. The room wasn't lit. It was quite dark.

  The drawers suddenly opened and its contents began flying all over the place. The ghost approached and tried to attack me. I drew my Royal Rapier first, it only pushed it back a bit when I tried to hit it, then drew out the Sword of Demise, when it hit the ghost, it shattered revealing a flame. The flame disappeared from sight.

  The stuff fell to the ground. I opened the door, I saw that the torch has a little bit of flame. I knew that if I killed all the ghosts, the door behind the torch will open.

  "Its time for a ghost hunt" I said, "A-are you sure? Its dangerous here..." said Sora. "Yea, let's go" I replied, "O-ok..." she replied.

  We stepped out and entered another room. It was the library, I expected for the books to fly anytime. Just as expected, the books flew around. The ghost appeared and charged towards me, I tried to hit it but it jumped over me. "Hyaa!!!" shouted Sora as she tried to hit the ghost, it bounced to me. I drew out the Sword of Demise and hit it. It shattered into pieces. The flame should have returned to the torch.

  I saw a ghost at the door, "Hey!" I called out chasing it. We chased it down, it ran really fast. We chased it to the garden with the torch. It stopped, it turned around to look at us. A sword appeared in its hand, he wanted to fight.

  I was ready, I charged at him. He jumped back and jumped in for an attack. I used "Heat Blast", it got blasted away. I then used "Blackout" magic and hit it with the Sword of Demise.

>   It shattered into dust, the flame returned to the torch. The door finally opened revealing the courtyard. "You did it!" said Sora, "Let's go" I said.

  Chapter 10: Mansion

  Sora and I held each other's hands and walked towards the courtyard.
